Alex Rennie
Alex Rennie
Alex came to a workshop we ran at Wimbledon Art Studios before one of their open studios weekends for showing and selling their art. He had not sold much work in the previous few months and knew that he needed to sell several paintings just to meet the rent. He was worried that the pressure he felt under to achieve sales might cause him to offer some of his “ridiculous discounts”.
In addition to the workshop, he had two face-to-face coaching sessions in his studio where we explored what he wanted to achieve as an artist, and how his fears and insecurities had held him back. We gave him practical tools to overcome these fears, and allowed him to practise selling paintings to potential customers.
As a result of our work together, he had his best ever weekend of sales. All his paintings went at full price, and he received commissions for the coming months. Since then, he’s managed to sell paintings before all his shows, so that when he opens his studio, many of the paintings have “already sold” red dots on them. This creates an inspirational and powerful sustained momentum.
Equally important for Alex, he’s rediscovered his passion for art. Before our work together he wasn’t sure he really had anything to say. He’s now rediscovered his voice.
Alex told us: “I have found the 'look them in the eye' sessions invaluable to my business. Adam and Tony have given me the tools to enter into each specific sales scenario with confidence and real belief in my work. the support they have provided is reflected in my strongest business results in ten years which is based on better client relationships and confident, honest sales negotiations.
As an artist i have been plagued by doubts and endless self-criticism which had negative consequences for my career. Adam and Tony have enabled me to gain a more balanced and positive perspective on my practice which has led to greater creativity, development and enjoyment.
Adam and Tony help me to identify the barriers to my success and fulfilment and provide a supportive and practical framework to overcome them. i will not hesitate to use their excellent services in the future."
